Wilson Leadership Institute Research

Each cohort is expected to collaboratively research a topic, specific to Wilson, that could be better understood with the application of effective leadership and present their findings at the Wilson Forward Annual Meeting. Findings of the research compiled by each cohort can be found below.

Unemployment in Wilson County

This white paper discusses surveys conducted with people seeking employment services in Wilson County to understand the challenges faced by those without jobs. The goal was to identify and help the at-risk working-age population in the area with tailored programs. 

Cohort II (2019)

Career Readiness Strategies for Middle-Grade Students

This white paper discusses surveys conducted with parents and educators in Wilson County to understand the opportunities available to middle school students  and implementation benefits of career readiness strategies.

Attraction and Retention of Educators in Wilson

This research highlights the importance of attraction and retention for educators in Wilson, NC. This research focuses on the goal of retaining more educators that will help fuel the ecosystem of our community by improving the quality of life for those who work in our schools, for the students who attend our schools, and the local businesses that rely on our school system to attract talented workers.
