Our project focuses on supporting family and childcare needs from the employer's perspective. Access to and the affordability of childcare are well-known issues that affect workforce development, and finding solutions has historically been daunting. We have decided to focus on what is within employers' control. If we can't create new childcare options, how do we make adjustments within the current childcare landscape? This project aims to inform and motivate employers to enhance their policies and practices by providing a family-friendly assessment. We believe that by becoming more family-friendly, employees will be empowered to come to work with the safety of knowing that their family and childcare needs will be met without negatively impacting their employment. This project provides employers with a family-friendly assessment that helps business leaders reflect on and build upon current policies and practices, such as flexible and predictable scheduling, paid and flexible leave, childcare assistance, and wellness supports to recruit and retain a strong, reliable, effective workforce.
